These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the Multiverbo website, the Multiverbo app and Premium, the paid plans inside the app. They are written to be read. Where the law gives you more than they do, the law wins; nothing here takes away a right you have as a consumer.

The short version

  • Multiverbo is for people aged 13 and over. Under-18s buy Premium only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
  • The free plan stays free: lessons 1–5 in each language, Recall, your own cards, all four games, study days and your standing.
  • Premium adds lessons 6–30, as listed in the app when you buy. You can buy it for one month, three months or a year, and Premium Family gives it to up to six people for six months or a year. It renews by itself until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time.
  • Review is never behind a paywall. Every word you have learned stays in Recall, Premium or not. If Premium ends, the words from lessons 6–30 keep coming back on schedule too.
  • Changed your mind? Ask within 14 days of first subscribing, or of subscribing again after Premium had ended, and you get a full refund, no questions asked.
  • Before a 3-month, 6-month or yearly plan renews, we email you a reminder. Once it has renewed, you can end it after any month, and we refund the whole months that are left.
  • Your cards are yours. We store them to show them to you, and nothing more.
  • Czech law applies, but you keep every protection the law of your own country gives you.

Who we are, and who you are

We are Multiverbo s.r.o., a limited liability company (společnost s ručením omezeným), with its registered office at Preslova 72/25, Smíchov, 150 00 Praha 5, company ID (IČO) 30063701. We run Multiverbo. The Legal notice has our full details. You can write to us at info@multiverbo.com or call us on +420 721 443 303.

You are the person who reads the website or learns in the app, for yourself and not for a business. These terms are written for you as a consumer, and every right they give you is yours in that capacity.

We are not bound by any code of conduct.

What these terms cover

  • The website, https://multiverbo.com, where you can read about Multiverbo. Reading it needs no account and no agreement beyond using it fairly (see Using Multiverbo fairly).
  • The app, https://multiverbo.app, where you learn: the lessons, Recall, My cards, the games, study days and your standing.
  • Premium, the paid plans in the app: Premium, for one person, and Premium Family, for up to six. Where these terms say “Premium”, they mean both, unless they name Premium Family.

How we handle your personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy. It is part of how we keep these terms, but it is not a contract you sign: it tells you what we do.

What you need to use Multiverbo

  • A device and a browser. The app runs in a current version of a common web browser on a computer, tablet or phone, and can be installed from the browser as a web app. It needs no other software. If we stop supporting a browser you use, we will say so in the app well in advance.
  • An internet connection, to sign in, to load lessons and to save your progress. Once a lesson is loaded, most of the app keeps working offline, and progress you make offline is saved the next time you connect.
  • A working email address, for the account emails described below.
  • No copy protection. The lessons and recordings carry no technical protection measures; the app simply shows you the ones your plan includes. Your own data can be exported at any time in a common, machine-readable format.
  • Updates. We keep the app updated so that it stays secure and works as described, for as long as we provide it (Section 2389e of the Czech Civil Code, No. 89/2012 Coll.). Updates arrive on their own when you open the app.

Your account

  • Age. You need to be 13 or older to create an account, and you confirm that you are when you create it. We don’t verify it, so please don’t create an account if you are younger. If a parent or guardian tells us that a younger child has an account, we delete it.
  • Under 18. You can use the free plan on your own. To buy Premium, you need the permission of a parent or guardian, and you confirm at checkout that you are 18 or older or have it. We cannot check that you do, so please ask before you pay.
  • Parents and guardians. If your child bought Premium without your permission, write to us at info@multiverbo.com. We will refund what was paid and end the subscription.
  • One person, one account. An account is for one learner, and Premium Family shares Premium between accounts, never an account itself. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. Two-factor authentication in Settings makes that much harder.
  • A working email address. We use it to confirm your account, to reset your password, and to tell you about security changes, about Premium if you buy it, and about changes to these terms.

Free and Premium

The free plan includes lessons 1–5 in each language, as they are available in the app; Recall for every word you learn and for your own cards; My cards; all four games (Match, Blitz, Builder and Word Rain); study days; your standing; and the full export of your data. It costs nothing and has no time limit.

Premium adds lessons 6–30, which take you from A1 towards A2: the lessons available in each language, as listed in the app and on the Pricing page when you buy. Premium is not on sale yet; these terms describe how it will work once it is. It comes in two plans:

  • Premium, for one person, paid for 1 month, 3 months or 1 year at a time.
  • Premium Family, for you and up to five people you invite, paid for 6 months or 1 year at a time (see Premium Family).

The terms for paying:

  • Price. The price of each plan and length is shown on the Pricing page and at checkout before you pay. It includes VAT, and it is the same wherever you live.
  • Payment. Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see your full card number.
  • Renewal. Premium is a subscription. At the end of each period it renews automatically for another period of the same length, and the card you paid with is charged again, until you cancel. The price and the length of each period are shown at checkout and repeated in the confirmation email, so that you know what each renewal costs before you subscribe.
  • A reminder before a longer plan renews. For a 3-month, 6-month or yearly plan, we email you at least 7 days before each renewal, with its date and its price, and how to cancel.
  • A renewal that cannot be charged. Stripe tries the card again over the following days, for up to 2 weeks. Meanwhile lessons 6–30 are locked, for every member of a Premium Family too; everything else carries on, Recall included. If a later try goes through, Premium opens again for the rest of the new period, which still counts from the renewal date. If none does, Premium ends and nothing more is charged. You can also end it in the meantime by writing to us. Nothing you made is lost.
  • Price changes. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to you. It applies from your next renewal, so you can cancel before then if you don’t want to pay it.
  • Changing your plan. You can move to another length, or between Premium and Premium Family, at any time, in Settings → Subscription. The change takes effect straight away: the new plan’s first period starts that day, and the unused part of the period you are in is credited against its price, so you pay only the difference. If the credit is more than the new price, the rest is taken off your next payments. Checkout shows the price, the credit and what you will pay before you confirm.

When Premium ends

When Premium ends — because you cancelled, a renewal could not be charged, or you asked for your refund — lessons 6–30 lock again until you subscribe again. The same is true for a member of a Premium Family who leaves or is removed, or whose plan ends. The words you learned in them stay in your Recall queue and keep coming back on schedule, like every other word: review is never behind a paywall. Nothing is deleted: your progress in those lessons is kept, and you carry on where you left off if you subscribe again. Everything in the free plan, including your own cards, stays as it was.

Premium Family

Premium Family gives Premium to up to six people: the person who buys it, “the payer”, and up to five people the payer invites, “members”.

  • Who can join. Anyone the payer invites, family or not, who is 13 or older and has a Multiverbo account or creates one. Nobody has to show that they are related or live together. You can be a member of one Premium Family at a time.
  • Inviting. The payer invites people by email, in Settings → Subscription. Someone joins by signing in and accepting the invitation; an invitation that is not accepted expires after 7 days.
  • Every account stays private. Each member learns on their own account, with their own progress and cards. The payer sees each member’s name and email address; each member sees the payer’s name and email address and the date the plan is paid up to. Nobody sees anyone else’s lessons, progress, answers or cards.
  • Leaving and removing. A member can leave at any time, and the payer can remove a member at any time, in Settings → Subscription. Premium ends for that person straight away, and the place is free for someone else.
  • When the plan ends, because the payer cancelled or withdrew, or a renewal could not be charged, Premium ends for every member at the same time as for the payer.
  • Nothing is lost. Someone whose Premium ends goes back to the free plan with their account, progress and cards as they were (see When Premium ends), and can buy Premium for themselves at any time.
  • Your own Premium. Joining a Premium Family does not cancel a Premium you pay for yourself. If you no longer need it, cancel it (see Cancelling Premium).
  • Who the contract is with. The payer buys Premium Family, so paying, renewing, changing the plan, cancelling and the 14-day refund are the payer’s alone. Members pay nothing, and use Premium under these terms like every learner.

How you buy Premium

Premium is bought in the app, and only there. Once it is on sale, it works like this:

  1. Signed in to the app, go to Settings → Subscription, choose Upgrade to Premium, and choose the plan and how long each period is.
  2. You go to a secure payment page run by Stripe, our payment provider. It shows what you are buying, the price with VAT and how often you will be charged.
  3. Enter your payment details and confirm that you are 18 or older, or that your parent or guardian has agreed to the purchase. Until you press the button that confirms the payment, nothing is bought: you can check and correct everything you have typed, or go back to the app without paying.
  4. Pressing that button places your order, and it means you will pay. The button says so. The contract is made when the payment goes through, and Premium opens in the app straight away.
  5. We then confirm the purchase by email, with these terms, the information about your right of withdrawal and the model withdrawal form, so that you have your own copy.
  • Language. The contract is made in English.
  • Is the contract kept? Yes. We keep the record of your purchase with our billing records, and you can ask us for it at any time. The confirmation email holds these terms as they were when you bought, so keep it.

Your 14-day refund

You can withdraw from Premium within 14 days of first subscribing, or of subscribing again after Premium had ended, without giving a reason, and we refund the full amount you paid — even if you have already used Premium in that time. A renewal is not a new purchase, so this refund does not cover it; what you get back when you cancel after a renewal is set out in Cancelling Premium. For Premium Family, the payer withdraws, and Premium ends for every member.

This is your right of withdrawal as a consumer in the EU (Article 9 of Directive 2011/83/EU; in Czech law, Section 1829 of the Civil Code, No. 89/2012 Coll.). Subscribing is a new contract with its own 14 days, whether it is your first time or you come back after Premium had ended; a renewal carries on the same contract, so it starts no new period. Premium is a digital service that keeps adapting to you, so the right applies to it in full (as the Court of Justice of the EU confirmed for subscriptions of this kind in Sky Österreich, C‑234/25). The law would let us keep a share of the price for the days you used; we choose not to, and we don’t ask you to give the right up when Premium starts.

How to withdraw. Write to us at info@multiverbo.com, if you can from the email address on your account, and say that you are withdrawing from Premium. You can also write to us by post, to Multiverbo s.r.o., Preslova 72/25, Smíchov, 150 00 Praha 5. That is enough; you can use the form below, but you don’t have to.

Model withdrawal form

If you use the form, your name and the email address of your account are enough for us to find your purchase. You can leave any other line empty.

(Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.)

To: Multiverbo s.r.o., Preslova 72/25, Smíchov, 150 00 Praha 5, info@multiverbo.com

I/We hereby give notice that I/We withdraw from my/our contract for the provision of the following service: Multiverbo Premium.

Ordered on: …
Name of consumer(s): …
Address of consumer(s): …
Email address of the account (optional): …
Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper): …
Date: …

What happens next. We reply by email to confirm that your withdrawal has arrived. Premium ends, and we refund the full amount within 14 days of receiving your message, to the card you paid with, at no cost to you.

If you are deleting your account. You need to cancel Premium before you can ask to delete your account (see Ending your account). Cancelling does not ask for your refund by itself. If you are within the 14 days and want your money back, withdraw as above before those days are over, and we refund you in full.

Cancelling Premium

You can cancel at any time by writing to us and, while your subscription is paid up, in the app: Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription. What happens next depends on where you are in your plan:

  • In a plan’s first period, and on the monthly plan at any time, cancelling stops the next renewal. Premium keeps running until the end of the period you have paid for, and then it ends. Outside the 14-day refund, we don’t refund the rest of that period, unless the law says we must.
  • Once a 3-month, 6-month or yearly plan has renewed, you don’t have to wait for the end of the period. Cancelling ends Premium at the end of the month you are in, with months counted from the renewal date, and we refund the whole months that are left, in proportion to the price of that period. The refund goes to the card you paid with, within 14 days. For example, if a yearly plan renews on 1 March for €49.99 and you cancel on 10 May, Premium runs until 1 June, and we refund 9 of the 12 months: €37.49.

If you have Premium Family, cancelling ends it for every member at the same time as for you.

To delete your account, cancel Premium first (see Ending your account).

Content and copyright

  • What we make is ours. The lessons, stories, recordings, grammar sheets, games, the crow and the rest of Multiverbo belong to us or to the people who license them to us. You may use them to learn, for yourself. Please don’t copy, sell or republish them, or build a copy of Multiverbo from them.
  • What you make is yours. The decks, cards, notes and example sentences you write or import belong to you. You give us permission to store them and show them to you, only so that we can provide the app, for as long as your account exists. We don’t publish them, share them or use them for anything else.
  • You can take them with you at any time, with everything else in your account, from Settings → Your data → Download my data.
  • Only add what you may add. Don’t put anything into your cards that you have no right to use, or that is unlawful.
  • We don’t read your cards. Nobody at Multiverbo reviews or moderates what you write; your cards are shown to you alone. We act on a card only if someone reports it, or a court or authority orders it, and only as far as the law requires. If we ever restrict or remove a card, we tell you which one, why, and how to object.

Using Multiverbo fairly

When you use the website or the app, please don’t:

  • break the law, or help someone else break it;
  • try to get into accounts or data that are not yours, or test our security without our permission (if you have found a weakness, please tell us at info@multiverbo.com);
  • overload, disrupt or attack the service, or get round its limits;
  • collect content or data from it with automated tools, except what the app itself offers you, such as your own export;
  • sell or share access to your account.

If someone breaks these rules in a serious way, we may suspend or close the account involved (see Ending your account). Anyone can report unlawful content or misuse to info@multiverbo.com; we look at every report, decide with care and reply.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Multiverbo running and your data safe, but no online service is available every minute. We may pause it for maintenance or when something goes wrong, and we try to keep those pauses short and to announce the planned ones.

We keep improving the app, so lessons, games and features change over time. We change what Premium includes only for a good reason (the reasons in Changes to these terms), at no cost to you, and we email you before the change. If a change is to your disadvantage and is not minor — for example, we remove lessons you paid for — you can end the contract within 30 days of our notice, or of the change if it comes later, and we refund the part of the period you paid for that you have not used (Sections 2389k and 2389l of the Czech Civil Code).

If something goes wrong

  • Your rights if the service is faulty. If the app or Premium does not work as these terms and our descriptions say, you have the rights the law gives you (Sections 2389a and following of the Czech Civil Code): to have it put right, within a reasonable time and without serious inconvenience to you, and, if we don’t or can’t, or the fault is serious, to a fair price reduction or to end the contract. Because we supply Premium continuously, this covers the whole time we supply it.
  • How to complain about a fault. Write to us at info@multiverbo.com, or by post to Multiverbo s.r.o., Preslova 72/25, Smíchov, 150 00 Praha 5. Tell us what is wrong, when you noticed it and what you would like us to do: put it right, reduce the price or end the contract. The email address on your account helps us find your account. We confirm by email that your complaint has arrived, with the date, what it is about and what you asked for. We settle it, including any remedy, within 30 days of receiving it, unless we agree a longer time with you, and then tell you in writing how and when we settled it, or, if we don’t accept it, why (Section 19 of the Czech Consumer Protection Act, No. 634/1992 Coll.).
  • What we are responsible for. We are responsible for the harm we cause through our fault, as the law provides. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited — for example for harm caused on purpose or through gross negligence, or for injury to a person.
  • What we are not responsible for. How well you learn depends on many things, and we don’t promise any particular result. We are also not responsible for problems caused by your own device or connection, or by things outside our reasonable control.

Ending your account

  • You can delete your account at any time, in the app, from Settings → Your data → Delete your account. If you have Premium, cancel it first: the app asks you to before it lets you go on. If you are a member of a Premium Family, deleting your account takes you out of it. When you ask, we sign you out everywhere and email you the date your account will be deleted, 30 days later. Until then you can change your mind: sign in and choose Keep my account. On that date we delete everything in your account for good, and Premium, if its paid period is still running, ends with it. Asking to delete does not ask for your refund: if you are within the 14 days, withdraw before they are over and we refund you in full (see Your 14-day refund). Otherwise, a period you have already paid for is refunded only as Cancelling Premium sets out, and not because the account is deleted before it ends.
  • Dormant accounts. If you have not signed in for 1 year, we delete the account, after emailing you twice so that you can keep it by signing in. A Premium account is never dormant while it is paid up.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms seriously or repeatedly, or when the law requires it. Unless there is an urgent reason, we will tell you first, say why, and give you the chance to explain and to download your data. Whenever we suspend or close an account, we tell you the facts and the rule we relied on, and how you can object to us or turn to the authorities and the courts. If we close an account with Premium for a reason that is not your breach of these terms, we refund the unused part of the period you paid for.
  • If we ever close Multiverbo, we will tell everyone with an account at least 30 days in advance, so that you have time to download your data, and we refund the unused part of any Premium period.

Changes to these terms

We change these terms only for a good reason: when the law or a decision of an authority requires it; when the app or Premium changes, for example new lessons, games or features, or a new way of providing them; when a provider these terms name changes; to make them clearer or to put right a mistake; or to protect the security of the service. The current version is always on this page, with its date.

If a change affects you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect and tell you what changes. You don’t have to accept it. You can end the contract before the change takes effect, at no cost: delete your account or, if you have Premium, cancel it. Your Premium then runs to the end of the period you paid for under the terms you agreed to, or, if you prefer, we end it straight away and refund the unused part of that period. If you carry on using Multiverbo after that date, the new terms apply.

Law and disputes

  • The law. These terms are governed by Czech law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you still keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law where you live.
  • Tell us first. If something is wrong, write to us at info@multiverbo.com. We answer every complaint, and we would like to put things right.
  • Out-of-court settlement. If we cannot agree about Premium, you can ask the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, Česká obchodní inspekce (ČOI), Gorazdova 1969/24, 120 00 Praha 2, to help settle the dispute out of court. It is free, and you can apply within one year of first raising the complaint with us, through ČOI’s page on out-of-court settlement (in Czech). It handles disputes about paid services such as Premium, not about services provided free of charge. The same authority also oversees how we treat consumers: https://coi.gov.cz.
  • Courts. You can also go to court. As a consumer, you can bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, as well as in the Czech Republic.
