Why we’re building Multiverbo

The science of remembering is good news, and learning a language should feel like it.

Multiverbo teaches five languages from the first word towards A2, with short lessons and typed review, built on what memory research has found about retrieval and spacing. We are making it for people learning on their own, for complete beginners, and for classes.

A note from us

We are building Multiverbo around one exercise: bringing a word back from memory and typing the answer, then doing it again after a longer gap each time you get it right. The lessons bring the words in, and Recall keeps bringing them back.

It is early. French lessons 1 to 5 are in the app, and the rest of the course is being written.

Why we decided

  1. Typing instead of tapping

Picking from four answers asks you to recognise a word; typing it asks you to bring it back yourself. The lessons open with choices, but every Recall card and every lesson’s test are typed.

A missing accent or a small typo still counts, and the card shows you the spelling it expected.

Recall on a phone, asking for coffee in French: le cafe is almost correct, since the answer is le café, and the word comes back in a week.Recall on a phone, asking for coffee in French: le cafe is almost correct, since the answer is le café, and the word comes back in a week.

  2. A weekly rhythm, no streaks

A daily count turns one busy evening into a loss. So you choose how many days a week you want to learn, from one to five, or none at all.

Each week that reaches it keeps its mark for good, and a week that falls short takes nothing away.

Study days on a phone: the rhythm set to three days a week, then thirteen weeks of squares with a star under each week that met it.Study days on a phone: the rhythm set to three days a week, then thirteen weeks of squares with a star under each week that met it.

  3. Your data, your call

No AI in the app. Answers are marked by fixed rules, so the same answer gets the same verdict on any day.

What you make here is yours: one button downloads all of it, another deletes the account and everything in it.

What we hold to

Something to ask, or a word we got wrong? Write to us.

Suggestions only
Multiverbo suggests and never nags. After time away, Recall greets you with “Welcome back.” and offers to spread what has piled up over the days ahead.
Honest words
A word is held once it lasts days between reviews, and solid once it lasts weeks. We never claim more than your answers show.
No dark patterns
No fake urgency and no maze to cancel. If you come back, it should be because the app was worth it.
Accessible
Multiverbo should work for everyone who wants to learn: by keyboard or screen reader, in the light theme or the dark, with motion or without.
